Two blue flies

Here are two blue flies.  A very small fly on ragwort (two photos) and a very large fly on hogweed.

#3 is an Empididae I believe.

Thank you Jason.  I am beginning to think that it is possibly Empis tesellata whereas most of the dance flies we see in this area are possibly Empis opaca.  I am still thinking about the other blue fly.
