What is this beauty please?

Hi All
My wife spotted this beautiful fly on the edge of coppiced woods, on chalk downland on the Hants/Dorset border. I can't recall ever seeing it before so any pointers with ID will be very gratefully received! As you can see from the Creeping Thistle flower it is feeding on it's a medium sized fly. Underneath the wings, the flattish body is covered in golden hairs.
Kind Regards
Vinny

Re: What is this beauty please?

Hi Mark
Much appreciated! I was actually photographing its 'bigger brother' Tachina grossa when my wife found it.
Thanks once again.
