Neria femoralis and the UK salt industry

The Cheshire salt industry that Phil Brighton mentions at http://www.dipteristsforum.org.uk/t3709 … cies..html (see Weaver Hall Museum and Workhouse in Northwich) along the Weaver could be the clue to the distribution of Neria femoralis. Martin Drake took it at the nearby Worthington Flash (SJ6673) - (the Winsford that Phil mentions is at SJ6566), describing the site as "sandy river bank under willows". I went there and found the spots he described but couldn't refind the species (that's its only known British locality) - I guess it'll be built on by now.
If anyone is ever in this region, especially if they wander onto old salt mine flushings, could they grab any Neria please - I'm happy to ID bagfuls.
Here's a link to the Weaver: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Weaver
Seems Cheshire is the only place where salt is still worth mining, map and history at https://www.bgs.ac.uk/downloads/start.cfm?id=1368

Re: Neria femoralis and the UK salt industry

There's some interesting historical background (did you know that town names ending in "wich" were named after salt springs) at http://nora.nerc.ac.uk/6218/2/Halite_ka … 05-512.pdf

Cooper, A. H. Halite karst geohazards (natural and man-made) in the United Kingdom. Environ. Geol. 42, 505512 (2002).

There's a cycle track online at http://www.visitcheshire.com/things-to- … ine-p37071 =1 that might give a clue as to the regions of interest salt-wise
