Two insects (flies I think) on a Hogweed leaf

Last month, I saw these insects on a Hogweed leaf and would be glad to know what they are. At the time, I wondered if they are Phoridae (Scuttle flies). I interpret the unusual structure at the rear of one of them as an adaptation in the female that acts as guide for the male during a mating process involving only brief intermittent contact.

Intriguing behaviour - "inflatable" abdominal sacs are known in other Phoridae - see http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/showimage/14194/. I don't suppose there's any chance these were collected?

Thanks for that. No sample I'm afraid. Didn't realize I had something a bit different until I looked at the images. If, hopefully, there is a repeat display sometime, I'll try and do better.
