Soldierflies and allies - new resources available

Last weekend's DF workshop at Preston Montford was very enjoyable, and with soldierflies and allies as one of the study groups (alongside Anthomyiidae) a lot of new resources have been brought together. The list includes a substantial draft atlas for all the species in the soldierflies group, some additional photo-stack images to support some of the keys to horseflies (Tabanidae), and an updated checklist spreadsheet.

The latest scheme newsletter has also been issued on the recording scheme website (with apologies for not getting it done in time to be printed with the forthcoming Bulletin).

Links to all of the above are available from:

Many thanks to many people who have supported this burst of soldierfly-related activity, including Martin Drake for organising the workshop, the NHM and BENHS for loaning specimens and for the use of the photo-stacking equipment at the NHM's Angela Marmont Centre (with tuition provide by Chris Raper), and Judy Webb for providing a brilliant presentation on soldierfly larvae at the workshop.
