Especially for Erica! We saw two otters swimming under the 8 arch bridge as we returned from a diptera collecting trip. This was the best shot I could get before it swam into the vegetation.

Three Cheilosia illustrata on Hogweed at West Williamston Nature Reserve. These flies were just starting to appear toward the end of the field week.

A male Chrysotoxum cautum at Freshwater. There were numbers of this attractive fly in the sand dunes and slacks at Freashwater and Broomhill. The characteristically huge genitalia of this species are obvious in this image.
