Summer 2012 Field Meeting, Speyside.

Great week. Thanks to Roger for organising it. Highlights for me were seeing some of the local specialities such Laphria flava, Rhadiurgus variabilis and Thereva handlirschi - and the good company - and the Cairngorm Brewery beer!

Re: Summer 2012 Field Meeting, Speyside.

Indeed, a very good week. Many thanks to Roger as usual for setting up such a splendid field meeting. A few images of one of the stars (Laphria flava) of the week are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/insectman/ … 679052252/

I particularly enjoyed netting Tabanus sudeticus females as they circled our parked cars. It was good to also take a single Cnodacophora stylifera, which appears to be a proper Scottish specialty. Pogonata barbata was also a superb beast to encounter. We need to get some fresh specimens to Chris Spilling for photographing!
