The Society for the study of flies (Diptera)

Very sadly Amanda died on 23 January after a long illness.  Amanda was an enthusiastic and active supporter of our society for many years and served superbly as our Secretary between 2014 and 2018.  She will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts must be with Peter, Charlie and James.  They write:

"Amanda�s funeral will be held on Friday, February 1st .

Amanda will be cremated early in the day, followed by the memorial service which we invite you all to attend. The memorial service will be at Middleton Village Hall at 11.30 am, and there will then be a wake at the Bell Inn, a ten minute walk from Village Hall. We hope that you�ll all be able to join us to celebrate Amanda�s life, and to say goodbye to her. More detailed information about the day can be found below as well as transport we are organising from London.

We would especially like people to stay for the wake at the Bell and for people to be able to have a drink, chat and remember Amanda. With that in mind, we will be organising coaches to take people to and from London (the pick up point will be at Cedarville Gardens, Streatham). We will need to know numbers for the coach booking, so please let Caroline know this weekend.

If you are driving there is limited parking available at the Village Hall but plenty of parking at The Bell.

Amanda asked for no flowers to be sent on the day of the funeral but for any donations in her memory to be made to St George�s Hospital Oncology Department. We will be collecting donations by cash or cheque on the day. Cheques should be made payable to St George�s Hospital Charity.
