Scathophagid ?

Hello

Can anyone tell me what this is? It was extremely elusive hiding under bramble leaf. In a Canterbury garden on 11/09/18.

Thanks

Re: Scathophagid ?

I think it's a Chorisops tibialis, but tricky from this angle. Any other shots?

Re: Scathophagid ?

Hello Tony,

No other shots I'm afraid but I suspect you're right.
But why was it so secretive? I've not come across another soldier fly that immediately hid under a leaf when it saw me. As long as you don't spook them they usually pose for ages.
I thought it might be Micropselapha but never mind.

Thanks
