Rye Harbour NR 18th August this year. I'm thinking Orthocladiinae but can anybody go any further? Thanks

Most Orthocladiinae with black and yellow legs turn out to be Cricotopus. Can't see any reason why this shouldn't be one.

Thanks Tony. I'll slide mount the abdomen and see if I can get to species

Managed to slide mount the hypopygium (not hugely successfully) and run it through the key. I think I have C. sylvestris. Anyone have any experience of this species

Well, there are some very similar species, so I'm not 100%sure, but the genitalia look OK for sylvestris, and the colour pattern is right for sylvestris too.

Thanks Tony. My first attempt at orthoclads so good to know I'm close.
