I think from the pattern on the abdomen especially that this is Anthomyia, although it seems a bit small and has a very dark (greasy?) dorsum to be confident about what it is.
Terminalia/sternite V look more like imbrida than the alternatives to me. CHalk meadow, Beds. 31 July 2019.

Thanks Michael. Why is it so easy to work backwards through a key when you know the end point. Of course it is what you suggested. Even more peculiar, I cannot now get it anywhere near Anthomyia.
