Would anyone help to confirm the identity of the following taken on 24/08/19 all I think Eristalis:
pic1 e.abusiva
pic2 e. nemorum
pic3 e. tenax
pic4 e. horticola
pic5 e. pertinax
I used the wing patterns to narrow down the possibilities.
Thanks in advance
Tony

sorry pics in wrong order as I had to resubmit an oversized one!

I find Eristalis can be tricky so I like to see all legs plus the face before giving a firm identification.
My guess for these (but not an identification) would be
1. Arbustorum or pertinax ?
2. Myathropa florea (dark form)
3. Arbustorum ?
4. Pertinax ?
5. Arbustorum ?

Thanks Geoff for the input. I have been sitting on these pics a while for the same reason as they are all pretty similar. I don't know if it would help any if I told you they were all photographed on the same date at a coastal area of East Lothian. I do have multiple shots taken at different angles as well but posted a single shot to keep it brief. Might expand later by concentrating on one set at a time.

I think I have to agree with you on pic 2 looking at the higher res pics; wing cell R1 open and meeting the costa good enough for me to ID it.
