Peter Chandler was the tutor and I assisted with a presentation on fungi and providing reared gnats and flies.
This course filled up really early, even though we thought these might not be popular groups. Peter had new keys for us to try. It seemed to be greatly enjoyed and I'm sure more people will be encouraged to try these groups and maybe even a bit of rearing from fungi this autumn.

As usual the workshop was very well run with lots of specimens from the Liverpool Museum to refer to. Peter Chandler's talks on the Fungus Gnats and Flat-footed Flies and Judy's talk on fungi and rearing flies from fungi were very well illustrated and full of useful information about habitat.
Preston Montford is always an enjoyable weekend where one can learn a lot, catch up with old friends and make new ones. An excellent weekend.
