Good afternoon all
My first posting (looking fwd to being a part of things on here) and I'd like to submit a record of the rather handsome conopid L. signatus from Great Chalfield, N Wilts yesterday (07 Sept) at ST 86881 62944
I've posted images at http://www.talking-naturally.co.uk/grea … -signatus/ for confirmation.

Hi Charlie
I cant fonfirm your photos without references to to hand, but if this is signatus, then a very nice record! and nice photos
I too have been very lucky to find this fly this year on a Surrey Wildlife Trust field meeting on Chobham Common. I am also faily sure I have seen is near Dorking, Surrey too - sadly it escaped the net. This was on another Surrey Wildlife Trust site.

Thanks Mark - my first sighting of it, but will keep an eye out for more here. Been finding some interesting diptera on the estate this year inc Dotted Bee-fly and Rhingia rostrata, but this is perhaps the most interesting so far.
